It is a great joy that the Lord has enabled us to reach another year in spite of all the challenges we went through during the past year. To Him be the glory.

It is not uncommon for some people to demonize years that have come and gone. The year is blamed for being the worst year ever; hoping and expecting the new one to be better and …best…or whatever. But, as children of God, we need to have a different perspective – seeing God in every day, and every experience we had during the year. It was because God was with us that we were able to sleep and wake up each day. It was because God gave us the things we had that we were able to achieve all that we achieved.

Whatever challenges we went through, either in the form of some lack, sickness, or other unpalatable situations, we need to remember that Romans 8:28 is still very much true through it all. We need to see the cup half full and not half empty! That should ginger us to be thankful to Him. Our being thankful for every situation will encourage Him to grant us more grace, because He knows we will bless His name for it all.

Then we need to sit down and look back. What were the mistakes we made during the year? We need to re-visit them and meditatively consider how we could use them as stepping-stones to higher heights in our relationship with God and humankind.

In addition to that, what are the plans we have for the progress of the work of God? Jesus Christ is coming soon; how are we going to bring Christ back soonest? How are we going to fulfill the assignments God placed in our hands?

Before I let you go, (temporarily of course) let me ask you a question: When did you visit Psalm 122: 6 last? How are you fulfilling that commission? You need to think seriously about it, since you are witnessing the harrowing experiences of the people of God. And remember, this commission is nested in a promise for you. Read it again:

“…Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee…”

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God. I believe this verse is a sure key to prosperity in the year 2016, IF only you would obey the first part!

What do you think?

Have a blessed day!

Samuel Abraham
